Identity Verification Rejected

If your identity verification in the ID Verifier app is rejected, it may be due to one or more of the following reasons:

  • The ID document is not valid (expired or not machine-readable).
  • Older phones without autofocus or with cameras below approximately 3 MP may have difficulties reading the MRZ (machine-readable zone).
  • Poor lighting, scratched lenses, or low-quality color cameras can prevent the document from being properly recognized.
  • Missing information in the National Population Register (Folkeregisteret). For foreign ID documents, Buypass must perform a lookup in the Folkeregisteret where your passport number or national identity number must be registered. If either of these is not registered, you must contact the Norwegian Tax Administration (Skatteetaten) to update your information.
