Apple is forcing global changes in the lifetime of TLS/SSL certificates
2020.03.10
As of September this year (2020), Apple is introducing a more stringent TLS / SSL certificate lifetime regime, with a maximum lifetime of 398 days (13 months). Longer-term certificates, purchased before September 1st, will be valid throughout the lifetime stated in the certificate.
Buypass, and all other Certificate Authorities (CAs) must change the maximum lifetime of their certificates accordingly. As of September 1st, 2020, Buypass will only offer certificates with a maximum lifetime of 398 days.
The CA Browser forum of which Buypass is a member voted against a reduction in the life of certificates without this being brought forward.
Until September you can still purchase TLS/SSL certificate with 2-year lifetime The change does not have retroactive effect. This means that certificates with a 2-year lifetime, issued before September 1st 2020, will be valid for the entire 2-year period.
Buypass offers TLS/SSL certificates with 2-year lifetime until September 1st. Last ordering date is 24. of August.
