For the consumer market, Buypass issues smart cards with a Buypass ID directly, through Norsk Tipping or other card issuers.  Buypass ID is a personal electronic ID that can be used at all Buypass merchants.  Today, around two million Buypass IDs have been issued in the Norwegian market.

Through an agreement with Buypass, merchants will be able to offer simple and secure access to their Internet-services. This agreement gives the merchant access to a large number of end-users already equipped with the instruments they need for secure identification and electronic signature.  Buypass offers a solution in which both a smart card and mobile phone can be used as carriers of an electronic ID.

Through the concept "Secure Enterprise" Buypass offers a complete portfolio of market-leading products and services for the use of electronic IDs in companies and other organisations.  Our ID solutions meet the company need for IDs in form of enterprise certificates and SSL certificates.  Certificates on smart cards are administered through a simple, user-friendly management application developed by Buypass.  Buypass' enterprise solution can also be used in combination with the enterprise's systems for physical access control, helping to increase security in this area as well.

Secure identification, signature and encryption
The "Secure Enterprise" concept helps to boost the security of company information and communication both internal and external.

• When employees can identify themselves with a Buypass Smart Card, the enterprise attains better security in connection with log-on and entry into secure areas.
• When messages and reports are signed with an electronic ID, the content is protected against alterations and manipulations (protecting integrity), as well as a secure trace back to the sender (protecting against afterward denial).
• When messages and documents are encrypted, the enterprise is protected against unauthorised persons accessing or manipulating sensitive information.

 

Sector solutions

Buypass has acquired a considerable experience in a number of different sectors and understands the security challenges they face.

Public sector in general is one of Buypass' primary markets.  The sector is known for strict information security requirements, and sees great opportunities for savings in implementing solutions for electronic signatures and secure electronic message exchange.

Major hospitals and central health authorities in Norway have adopted Buypass systems to electronically exchange sensitive patient information.  Buypass solutions play a key role in realising a solution that combines security with user-friendliness and flexibility for health sector staff.

Buypass ID and e-signature solutions are also used by approximately 50% of Norway's primary care doctors for efficient electronic reporting to central health authorities.

A growing number of law, accounting and auditing firms use Buypass ID systems on a daily basis for secure access to Altinn, Norway's portal for reporting to the public sector.
