Buypass AS was founded in 2001 with the aim of building up a unique centre of expertise for developing user-friendly security solutions that meet market demands and the government's strictest security standards.  Buypass solutions are being used both in the consumer market, private businesses and public sector enterprises.

Buypass has 55 employees divided between head office in Oslo and branch office in Gjøvik.

Buypass is registered with  the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority.  Buypass issues a qualified ID certificates pursuant according to the Act relating to electronic signatures and has been declared pursuant to the Self-declaration Regulations and the Specification of Requirements for Public Key Infrastructure in the public sector.  The Company also holds a licence from the Ministry of Finance as an e-money undertaking pursuant to the Act relating to electronic money.
